Challenger Boats (2021) Ltd

Challenger Boats was established in 1994 and is a successful Bay of Plenty boat design/manufacturer. We design and build fibreglass boats for the leisure market – families, fishing, and recreation. Our fleet of 18 models ranges from the Challenger 550 to the Challenger 720.

Challenger boats are unique because they have smooth hulls (known as strakeless hulls) which means their ride through the water is extremely quiet, smooth and therefore a pleasure to be in; whether a passenger or the helmsman. This doesn’t compromise performance at all and Challenger Boats hold their own or outclass others when it comes to aquaplaning and speed. The hull design also makes these boats strong and rigid and therefore very safe.

Rollos Marine

Since 1958 the Dutton family has been dedicated to the NZ marine industry.

Firstly building pram dinghies and then runabouts and cabin cruisers, Rollo’s boats were timber and powered by makes/models such as Corvette, Zephyr, Vauxhall, Ford, and Dodge, all converted for work on the water.

10 years later fibreglass manufacture spelled the end of plywood boat building as we knew it.
182 Rollo’s plywood boats were produced.

So Rollo moved into marine retailing in a Te Rapa Road showroom where Rollo’s is still based today.
From there sons Gary & Greg built up the Rollo’s brand to be one of the leading dealers in the country and has gone from strength to strength.

Today they sell all the top brands in the marketplace – Haines Hunter, Fi-Glass, Senator, Stabicraft, and Smartwave boats. Along with Yamaha outboards and Yamaha WaveRunners.

They also have a first-class six bay service centre and a large yard.

Fin Chaser Boats

Fin Chaser Boats was founded in 2011 when Ross Christensen realised there was an opportunity to vastly improve smaller-sized aluminium boats in New Zealand. After using, selling and servicing trailer boats for over 20 years he could see a real need for aluminium boat packages that were practical, good quality and cost-effective, so with an engineering background and passion for fishing, diving and boat racing Ross aspired to set a new benchmark.

Ross’ journey started by understanding all the attributes needed to make the best, most practicable small aluminium boat for New Zealand fishermen with ride, stability, dryness, usable space, storage and strength. He then worked on finding the best solutions to these challenges for the ultimate all-round boat and teamed up with a reputable aluminium boat designer. Together with their concepts and design expertise, they built the first FC Boats prototype. This was immediately fitted out and tested in various conditions and it was proven to exceed all their expectations as a boat built for fishermen.

Since 2015 the factory has expanded with the demand for these award-winning aluminium boats, which are now designed and made in Hamilton.  Ross’ son, Max Christensen, joined the family business after completing a trade certificate in general engineering and brought with him his experience and passion for game fishing, along with his desire for functional quality aluminium fishing boats. He has grown the team along with a new purpose-built finishing and rigging bay which has allowed the core factory to expand to meet the increase in demand and consistent quality on the hull and structure work.

This family business, alongside a great team, are constantly trying to improve both design and quality of the Fin Chaser Boats’ range by keeping in touch with the Fin Chaser Boats’ family of owners for feedback and by being active fishermen themselves.
